Do you have a hard time saying “No”?

In my youth, as I recall, summer was a time to slow down, relax, and play.  Today it’s summer.  Have you been able to slow down, relax, and play?  I hope so.

Sometimes life can feel too busy and as a result we become overwhelmed and anxious.  We say “Yes” when we really want to say “No”.

A very important and easily overlooked stress management tool is the act of being assertive.

Listening to your wants and needs and acting on them is assertive behavior.  Asseertiveness is all about respecting and honoring ourselves, while respecting others.

Yes, listening to your wants and needs, and acting on them is a great stress management tool.

At times, we have all wanted to say “No”, but end up saying “Yes” because it seems easier.

Sometimes we agree to something because we want to please others or think we should do something we really don’t want to do.

We all have the right to say no.  Saying no in a respectful way, is a very empowering act.

Setting limits on our time is essential to our health and well-being.

We really know in our hearts what is best for us.  We just need to listen and make decisions from that place.

We really can trust ourselves to know what is best.

In the process of saying no, we are actually creating more time in our lives to say yes to the things that really matter.

Good luck.

Take care,

Kate
